Street Condition Update for Sunday, January 17, 2016, 12:30 a.m.

Light snow began falling in Lincoln Saturday evening and continued into early Sunday morning. City crews were deployed around 11:45 p.m. Saturday night and 20 material spreaders began a City wide application of granular de-icer and brine on City streets. Crews will focus on treating all emergency snow routes and arterial streets in Lincoln and plowing areas where significant accumulation has occurred.

Street Condition Update for Saturday, January 9, 2016, 12:45 a.m.

With reports of black ice throughout the city, Public Works street crews will begin a full-scale material spreading operation at about 1 a.m. with 20 spreaders distributing granular salt treated with brine on Lincoln’s major arterials, snow emergency routes and bus routes.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution in the potential icy conditions.

Street Condition Update for Friday, January 8, 2016, 6 a.m.

As a light snow continues to fall in Lincoln, City street crews are on the streets in a material spreading operation on bridges and major intersections.  Crews will ramp-up efforts and begin a full material spreading operation with 20 material spreaders on all major arterials, snow routes and bus routes prior to the morning commute.  Street Maintenance officials expect to continue with the material spreading effort for the next few hours. They will monitor the situation and be ready to respond to potential changing weather conditions.

Lincoln Police Department reports two accidents as of 6 a.m. this morning.  Drivers are advised to drive with caution.  StarTran reports that buses are running on time.
